Oil & Natural Gas Geology
BachelorThis program is aimed to cultivate international cross cultural talents that could accommodate with the challenge and development along with the "silk road" economic belt between China and Central Asian countries. With the knowledge of Oil and Gas Geology obtained at school and the background of Chinese language and culture, students can not only be engaged in the research and exploration works of oil, natural gas and geology, but also to participate in the management of international resource areas with a broad internationalized vision and advanced concept.
DurationFive years in total, includes one year preparatory and four years of undergraduate education.
Course IntroductionThe courses of this program consist of two parts: the first year is Chinese language training (prep), and the following four years is the undergraduate study of Oil and Gas Geology.
Undergraduate CourseMain courses: Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Computer, Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Geosciences, Petrology, Structural Geology, Paleontology and Historical Geology, Oil and Natural Gas Geology, Geophysical well logging, Geophysical Exploration, Oil Bearing Basin Geology, Oil and Gas Resources Evaluation, Oil and gas Field Development, Basin and Reservoir Numerical Simulation, Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Physics, Economic Evaluation and Management of Mineral Resources, etc.
Main practical training: During the teaching process of professional foundation courses, students should have experiment practice in accordance with the requirements and contents of curriculum implementation. Field geological practice opportunities are: geological field practice at Qinhuangdao for First Grade students; geological survey and digital mapping at Chaohu for Second Grade students; Third Grade students will participate in the actual research work in oil fields and other petroleum production enterprises. Part of the research will be carried out by students themselves. The students will be involved in scientific research targeting at actual enterprise problems in advance and set up correct theoretical analysis and logical reasoning abilities through observation and participation. By the Fourth Grade, students can directly join in the teachers' scientific research project, the students' scientific research ability and innovative quality will be further improved with the teachers' further guidance, which lays a good foundation for the future work beyond graduation.
Credits Requirement: The total credit is 94 credits. The compulsory course is of 33.5 credits, and the elective course is of 60.5 credits. (The curriculum shall be subjected to change according to the teaching plan of the Department of Geology)
Admission NotificationAfter examining the application, the admission office will make a decision on admission notification. The successful candidates will be provided with an admission notice, a JW202 form (Visa application form), a health examination form. These documents will be posted to the permanent postal address of the applicants.
Usually the students are required to report at the admission office with their admission notice and other documents in September (the start of new session). Failure to do so within three weeks of the new term will be regarded as forfeiting the admission.
