Program Introduction:

Structural Engineering has a younger academic team with reasonable structure, high quality and great research efforts; a number of professors in related fields enjoy a high academic reputation. There are 13 professors (12 doctoral supervisors) and 13 associate professor (associate researchers), in which 1 returnee with Humboldt Foundation, 13 teachers who have overseas work experience, 32 teachers with doctorates. With another three senior technicians and two doctors, they together form a teaching team with all good at teaching and research. This discipline has laboratories which integrate teaching with scientific research and a number of structural analysis software; some of laboratory equipments reach a leading position in the world. In close connection with the long-term development planning of Shanghai and national economic and social development, the discipline of Civil Engineering has formed its distinct characteristics and gained recognition from peers in the researches and applications of civil and industrial construction, bridges, tunnels and underground structures, disaster prediction and prevention, port engineering and structural reinforcement and repair, as well as the preservation of excellent historical buildings.

  • To be eligible, applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type passport, and in good health, and have attained the Master's degree. 
  • IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL IBT 80 or above received within the recent two years.

Note: 1. Graduates who did not receive their degree certificates at the time of application should provide pre-graduation certificates issued by their schools or colleges to prove their ability to graduate smoothly and obtain their degree certificates by July 2019 2. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, those who immigrated to other countries from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and applying to study in Shanghai University as international students, should meet the following additional requirements: the applicants must hold valid passport or other relevant international recognized documents for at least 4 years; meanwhile, in the latest 4 years (by each April 30th of the year of University registration), the applicants must have lived overseas for 2 years (Living overseas for 9 months can be converted to 1 year, which is subject to the exit-entry stamp on visa.)
