(2) to become leaders in academia, industry or business.

We attract and admit motivated and talented high school graduates who plan to pursue their careers in the field of medical instrumentation, medical imaging and informatics, neuroscience and neuroengineering, biomaterials and nano-technology, or biomedical sciences. Students will be challenged to analyze and solve problems from both engineering and medicine perspective.

The BME Undergraduate Program at SJTU has constantly ranked as one of the best BME undergraduate programs in China (ranked 1st in a most influential report of Chinese university ranking). Currently there are about 200 undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor degrees in BME in the School of BME. The undergraduate curriculum is designed to be completed in 4 years, which provides a strong foundation in mathematics, engineering, science, as well as humanities and social sciences.
