MasterTeaching Objective
The program is designed to educate students for leadership roles in intermediate-large scale software system development and software project management.
Graduates should have a profound understanding of advanced and practical software development methods, techniques, and tools related to each phrase of software development cycles, be able to hatch up innovative solutions and implement leading-edge technologies.
In addition, graduates would be equipped with comprehensive knowledge related to information technology and expertise in certain specialty, such as enterprise computing, embedded system, service engineering and science, GIS, business intelligent, mainframe technology, and so on. Graduates should be able to immediately engage in software development and software project management in domestic or international industry, government agencies, and academia or other institutions.
Study Requirements
Course study requirements
Total credits should be no less than 30, including 18 credits in core courses，and more than 12 credits in selective courses.
Internship requirements
Students should complete an internship of 0.5-1 year to participate in software system development, including designing, implementing, testing software system and project management. A successful internship is counted as 5 credits.
Thesis Requirements
Students should complete the writing of research proposal before starting the internship. The Master degree thesis and research work should be done according to the standards of The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the thesis defense should be passed finally. An approved and successful thesis defend is counted as 5 credits.

Degree Awarded
The student who has fulfilled all the courses and thesis requirements will be awarded the Master's Degree of Software Engineering of Tongji University.
Note: Since 2010, those who have immigrated to other countries from the Mainland China,Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and applying to study in Tongji University as international students should meet the following additional requirements: the applicants must hold valid passport or other relevant international recognized documents for at least 4 years; meanwhile, in the latest 4 years (by each April 30th of the year of University registration), the applicants must have lived overseas for over 2 years (Living overseas for 9 months can be converted to 1 year, which is subject to the exit-entry stamp on visa.).
