Program Introduction

The IMPA program is a one-year English degree program offered by the School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) at Tsinghua University. It is designed for government officials or senior enterprise managers, or administrative heads and senior managerial staff of universities/colleges/academic institutions. from developing countries and focuses on enhancing cooperation and exchanges between those countries.

Course Requirements

The IMPA program consists of two semesters of full-time academic work, with a minimum course requirement of 27 credits to complete the degree, including the public required course (Chinese Language), 2 credits; core courses, 12 credits; electives, no less than 12 credits; practical training, 4 credits.

Eligibility

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.

2.Master's degree program applicants should have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree to a Bachelor's degree (or above) in China.

2.Applicants should be in good health and of good character, be well-behaved and be willing to abide by China's laws and regulations, as well as Tsinghua's rules.

4.Language competence requirements: TOEFL or IELTS

5.Some programs have specific requirements for applicants' academic performance, working years, etc.

Application Materials

● The information page of your valid non-Chinese personal and ordinary passport.

● Bachelor’s Degree certificate (original copy or notarized photocopy).

● Undergraduate academic transcripts (original copy or notarized photocopy).

● Personal statement (at least two pages of A4 paper, in English): Please indicate your educational and work background, your motivation for applying for the IMPA-BRI program at Tsinghua University, your relevant strengths and accomplishments, and your study plans and career goals.

● Two letters of recommendation (original copy, in English or Chinese): One letter must be from a professor or an associate professor of a higher education institution at which you have studied; the other must be from your current employer.

● Official results of English language proficiency tests (if available): Applicants whose first language or language of instruction in their tertiary education is not English are recommended to provide evidence of English proficiency. If needed, video interviews will be conducted for prospective candidates to test their language proficiency.

● Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The examination result must be obtained within one month, stating that the applicant has no serious infectious diseases or any diseases which could prevent entry into China.

Notes on Application:

● All uploaded documents should be in English or Chinese; otherwise, certified English/Chinese translations should be submitted with the original documents to the application system.

● To complete your application, an application fee of 800 RMB must be paid when your application status has changed to “Verified”. The application fee is non-refundable.
