BachelorThe Department of Physics has established itself as a renowned international large-scale physics research department by its ongoing commitment to strengthening its undergraduate and graduate education, cultivating exceptional students in physics, and partnering with both domestic and foreign research institutes and universities. In the 90 years since its establishment, a core objective of Zhejiang University’s Department of Physics has always been the cultivation of its undergraduate students.
An undergraduate physics education from the Department of Physics provides students with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of both theoretical and experimental physics, preparing students for future academic studies or careers in a wide variety of fields. In the Department of Physics, undergraduate students are frequently given opportunities to participate in state-of-the-art research with our renowned faculty and professors.
At present, the Department of Physics offers 108 undergraduate courses, of which 22 are general courses, 16 are core courses, 43 are specialty courses, and 27 are honors courses provided by the Chu Kochen Honors College.
The academic facilities provided by the Department of Physics includes learning spaces, textbook materials, Chinese and Foreign scientific periodicals and journals, software databases, wireless internet, and 6231.4 square meters dedicated to laboratories for general laboratory courses, research, and demonstrations. All of these facilities are here to satisfy the daily academic needs of our students.
General Qualifications
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport and must comply with the relevant regulations stipulated in "Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC."
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Applicants who will be under 18 years of age (as of September) must provide a notarized Letter of Guarantee from their designated guardian in China.

- Language Proficiency Certificates:
- English Taught: IELTS with an overall score of 5.5/6.0 or TOEFL iBT 85 (requirements vary by university).
- Chinese Taught: HSK 4–6 (levels and minimum scores vary by major and university).
- Academic Diplomas: High School Diploma (for Bachelor's Degree applicants) or Bachelor's/Master's Diploma (for Master's/Doctoral Degree applicants). - Academic Transcripts: High School Transcripts (for Bachelor's Degree) or University Transcripts (for Master's/Doctoral Degrees), compiled into a single file. - Two (2) Letters of Recommendation: Required from two high school teachers (for Bachelor's Degree) or two university professors/associate professors (for Master's/Doctoral Degrees). Letters must be issued on official letterhead, bear an official stamp from the institution, and include the recommender's email and phone number.

Note
- Documents 4 through 6 MUST be translated into English or Mandarin and officially legalized by the issuing institution. Alternatively, the services of a sworn translator may be utilized.
