Network and New Media
BachelorThe undergraduate major of Network and New Media has been enrolling students since 2016, with an average annual enrollment of about 30 students.
I. Program Objectives
The program aims at developing students’ overall abilities, including a firm Marxist journalism view and excellent media ethics spirit, a national and international perspective, new media operation and management capabilities, public opinion information analysis and judgment capabilities and social governance capabilities with new media as intermediary, a systematic grasp of the basic theory and business skills of network and new media, and strong cross-integration characteristic, to cultivate and shape strong practical compound media talents.
The program aims to train talents do works like media content production, media operation and management, public opinion monitoring and judgment in national key news websites, traditional mainstream media, key Internet enterprises, new media and public relations propaganda departments of various key enterprises, government propaganda and cyberspace administration departments, and educational and scientific research institutions, etc.
II. Professional Characteristic
The program has a dynamic, professional teacher team with interdisciplinary background. It is guided by the concept of cross-training of Liberal Arts, Science and Engineering. It attaches great importance to the integration of journalism communication basic theory and new media technology, and to the cultivation of the ability of public opinion information analysis and research.
Relying on the advantages of the co-found with propaganda department of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, we have built dozens of training practice bases with the education training center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the propaganda department of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, the China Science Daily and Shaanxi Branch of People's Daily. The program construct the trinity extracurricular training mode with Journalism and New Media Forum, New Thought Reading Club, and Academic Workshop.
III. Professional Basic Courses:
Introduction to Network and New Media, Web Design and Production, Integration Journalism, Network Public Opinion Monitoring and Research, New Media Data Analysis and Application, New Media Communication Practice, Network Public Opinion, New Media Operation and Management, New Media Marketing and Planning, New Media Advertising Design, New Media and Social Change, Marxist View of Journalism, Introduction to Media Effect Research, Introduction to Journalism, Interviewing and Writing for Journalism, Communication Research Methodology, Communication Statistics, Media Ethics and Rule of Law.
Eligibility
1. 18-25 years of age & with good health status;
2. Valid foreign ordinary passport;
3. High school / senior secondary or advanced diploma;
4. Chinese proficiency must be above HSK4.
Application Documents
1. XI’AN JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY APPLICATION FORM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (Down load after online application);
2. Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma (Student expecting to graduate should provide an official letter declaring expected graduation date), either in Chinese or English;
3. Notarized copies of high school academic transcripts, including courses taken and standard achieved;
4. Notarized copy of your HSK, HSKK results (applicants whose mother tongue is Chinese are free from HSK after getting confirmed from our school);
5. Scanned copy of valid foreign ordinary passport;
6. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (download at http://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/download?cid=16&pid= 8&page=2 completed in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of suggestion and signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid. The result is valid for 6 months);
7. Non-criminal record;

9. One recommendation letter;
