It demands the students to master the fundamental knowledge and practical skills of Chinese Pharmacy, Authentification of Chinese Medicine, processing, Chinese Medical Chemistry, Chinese Materia Medica and its preparation analysis, etc. Graduates can undertake the technical and administrative work in medical administrative departments, medical care departments, medical and functional food production enterprises, medicine circulation enterprises, Chinese Medicine research institutes and higher educational institutes. There are 3 specialties, namely Science of Chinese Materia Medica, Chinese Medicine Trade and Clinical Chinese Materia Medica.

1. Educational Objectives To cultivate inventive, innovational, and industrious senior trained personnel, specialized in developing and researching, design and supervising, production, application and trade of Chinese Materia Medica with the necessary theoretical knowledge of clinical reasonable application of medicine.

2. Basic requirements Command basic theory, knowledge and skill of this specialty and reach the requirements of the professional training; Possess the morality and cultural quality that a college student should have; be capable of self-learning, analyzing and solving problems. Command one foreign language; be capable of reading specialty literature in foreign language.

3. Professional Educational Objectives To cultivate senior trained personnel in possession of basic theory and knowledge and skill of Chinese Materia Medica and related Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy knowledge and skills. Be able to conduct Chinese Materia Medica authentification, preparation designing, quality control, pharmacological and effect analysis, reasonable clinical application, trade and new Chinese Materia Medica development, in the field of production, authentification, circulation, application and research and development fields.

4. Professional Educational Requirements On the basis of traditional Chinese Materia Medica basic theories, students are required to command basic theory and knowledge of Chinese Materia Medica extraction, basic methods and skills of Chinese Materia Medica authentification and processing, basic knowledge of Chinese Materia Medica preparation, examination and pharmacological and effect research and the ability of new medicine development. Be able to work in Chinese Materia Medica authentification, preparation designing, quality control, pharmacological and effect research, reasonable clinical application, and new Chinese Materia Medica development. The student is supposed to possess following knowledge and ability: (1) Command Chinese Materia Medica basic theory and clinical basic knowledge of drugs; (2) Command basic theories and skills of medicinal material processing and identification (3) Command fundamental theories and skills of extraction, separation and testing of Chinese Materia Medica elements; (4) Command basic theory and experiment skills of Chinese Materia Medica pharmacology, effect and toxicology; (5) Command principle and skills of Chinese Materia Medica production art and preparation quality control; (6) Acquire basic knowledge of medicine management and laws; (7) Acquire basic methods of literature review and material research and have the preliminary ability of new Chinese Materia Medica product research and development; (8) Command one foreign language and be able to read foreign specialty material; (9) Skilled access to computer application.

5. Length of Schooling and Degree The length of schooling for undergraduate study is 4 years. Bachelor of Science degree is awarded.
